Disclosure: Berry makes one of the apps on this list, so judge accordingly. This is the honest comparison we would want as former Centriq users.
Centriq Shut Down: The Best Alternatives in 2026
by the Berry team · Updated
Centriq shut down on January 31, 2026, user data was deleted, and its CSV exports did not include photos. If you have the CSV, Homer and Berry can both import it; either way, the photos have to be re-added, and an app that reads appliance labels turns each new photo into a record.
What happened to Centriq
Centriq shut down on January 31, 2026, and user data was deleted. Users who exported their data before then got CSV files, but the exports did not include photos, so any pictures you stored in Centriq are not in the export.
If you have the CSV, keep it. It is a ready-made checklist of the appliances and records you had, which makes the rebuild faster in any app.
What to look for in a replacement
Your own copy of your records. Centriq users lost their photos when it closed. Keep your own copies of label photos, manuals, and receipts whatever app you choose, and check whether the app lets you export. Berry exports everything you have put in, on any plan.
Fast appliance setup. Re-entering appliances by hand is the slow part. Homer and Berry both import a Centriq CSV, and both scan appliance labels, which turns one photo into a record.
An app for your phone. Check the app exists for your platform before you rebuild in it. Berry, for example, has no Android app.
A track record. After one shutdown, how long an app has been around matters. Newer apps, Berry and HomeBeacon included, have less history to judge.
Pricing you understand. Know the renewal date and whether the price is per property before you subscribe. HomeZada reviews cite surprise renewals, and Homer prices per property.
The options
The same apps and the same assessments as our full comparison, strengths first and weaknesses second.
HomeZada
Free plan; paid plans $99-$189 a yearA complete record of the home, finances included
Strengths
- The most comprehensive app in this group.
- A free Essentials plan to start, with paid plans when you need more.
- Covers home inventory, home finances, and home value forecasting, not only maintenance.
Weaknesses
- Steep learning curve.
- The mobile app is weaker than the web version.
- User reviews cite surprise renewals, so note your renewal date when you subscribe.
Homer
A digital binder for the house on iPhone
Strengths
- A strong digital binder on iPhone.
- Label scanning for appliance records.
- Imports a Centriq CSV export directly, added in December 2025. Photos still have to be re-added, since the export never had them.
Weaknesses
- Weaker on Android, where it rated around 3.3 stars at the time of writing.
- Pricing is per property, so the cost stacks if you own more than one home.
- User reviews cite a cluttered interface.
Dwellin
FreeTrying a home app for free
Strengths
- Free, and an easy entry point if you have never used a home app.
Weaknesses
- Asks for your address before the app opens.
- User reviews report data loss after a period of inactivity, so keep your own copy of anything important.
HomeBeacon
Free tierA free schedule tailored to your type of home
Strengths
- The free tier builds a personalized maintenance schedule from your home type, age, and climate.
Weaknesses
- Newer, and thinner on appliance intelligence than on scheduling.
Oply
Hiring out work instead of doing it yourself
Strengths
- Pairs maintenance with booking vetted contractors.
- A good fit if you would rather hire out work than do it yourself.
Weaknesses
- Built around hiring contractors, so it offers less if you plan to do the work yourself.
Berry
Free tier. Pro is $9.99 a month or $79.99 a year.Figuring out problems as they come up, with a schedule built from your actual home
Strengths
- The only app on this list that diagnoses a problem from a photo, with DIY and pro cost ranges.
- Builds your maintenance schedule from your actual home features and appliances.
- Reads a photo of an appliance label to fill in the record, then sends lifespan alerts before big-ticket appliances reach the end of their typical life.
- You can export everything you have put in, anytime, on any plan.
- The free tier includes 3 diagnoses a month, one appliance with label scanning, care tasks, and lifespan alerts, the first 3 tasks of your plan fully open, and weather alerts.
Weaknesses
- iOS and web only. There is no Android app, and Pro is purchased through the iOS app.
- Newer, with a smaller track record.
- No home inventory or home finance features like HomeZada.
- Every appliance after the first, and the rest of your plan, need Pro.
Rebuilding your records in Berry
Bring your Centriq CSV to Berry too. On the Appliances tab, Import from a spreadsheet reads the file and shows how it matched each column before anything is saved, so you can fix a guess; we don't have Centriq's exact layout, which is why you check it. Importing is free on every plan, up to 100 rows per file.
The CSV never had photos, so the label photos are the part to redo. One photo per appliance label brings them back. Berry reads the brand, model number, serial number, and manufacture year from the photo and fills in the record for you to check, then uses that age for lifespan alerts. Your first appliance gets all of that free. Every appliance after it is part of Berry Pro, which starts with a 7-day free trial.
- Start with the big-ticket appliances: water heater, furnace or heat pump, AC, and refrigerator.
- Photograph each rating plate. On a tank water heater it is on the tank itself, and the diagram in why a water heater leaks shows a typical spot.
- Check what Berry filled in, fix anything it misread, and save.
- Import your Centriq CSV, or work down it as a checklist if you would rather add each appliance by photo.
- Add your home features so the maintenance schedule matches your house.

Common questions
When did Centriq shut down?
Centriq shut down on January 31, 2026, and user data was deleted.
Can I recover my Centriq photos?
Not from the CSV export, which did not include photos. If the original photos are still on your phone or computer, keep them. Otherwise, photographing each appliance label again is the fastest way to rebuild those records.
Can I import my Centriq CSV into Berry?
Yes, on any plan. Import from a spreadsheet on the Appliances tab reads the file and shows how it matched each column so you can correct it before saving, up to 100 rows per file. Photos were never in the CSV, so add those back with a label photo per appliance. Homer also imports Centriq CSVs.
Which app should a former Centriq user pick?
It depends on what you used Centriq for. If you have your CSV, Homer and Berry both import it. For rebuilding appliance records from new label photos, Homer and Berry both scan labels. For a fuller home record with inventory and finances, look at HomeZada. If you hire out most work, Oply pairs maintenance with contractor booking.
